Meet Angel Mosqueda, a talented lifestyle and family photographer who’s portraits make you want to hug someone. She is especially wonderful with children and knows how to find that glimmer in the eyes that makes each photo special. She is based here right in Orange County, CA. Of course, Angel also has some words of wisdom to share with all the budding photographers and artists out there.

In a few sentences, this is what my business does:
I am a photographer who loves to capture special moments in a person’s life, through my lens!

My typical work environment is:
Indoor studio setting or outdoors.

The training or education that is required for my type of business is:
There is no specific training that is required. However the better you know your camera the better your shots will look.

To me, being part of the gig economy means:
I love the term gig because for me photography has always been a passion of mine. So being apart of this community is great.

The benefits of my type of work are:
The benefits are meeting new people, doing something I enjoy while making money!

The difficulties I encountered starting a business were:
Not knowing where to start!

The way I use/leverage social media is:
I engage my audience through stories. I’ll post different backdrops I’m interested in purchasing and ask my ig audience via poll which one they like better. I ask my audience what would they like like to see as far as styled settings, boho, mommy & me, daddy & me, Barbie, etc.

Integrating technology into my business is:
This is a challenge sometimes. Always needing to upgrade my subscriptions for storage is especially chalenging.

"Making it" and success in the gig economy to me means:
A lot. It means I may be able to possibly drop one of my other jobs and make my photography business a part-time or hopefully even a full-time business!

The way I balance work and personal time is:
Family first, work, and then photography.

The pandemic impacted my business by:
I don’t think the pandemic really affected my business too much because I was just getting started, so I took that time to learn the ins and outs of my camera and the technology involved.

The way that diversity impacts my business is:
Diversity is rarely brought up in my business.

The future of my business and/or the gig economy is:
I would eventually love to replace my full time job with my gig!

One piece of useful advice I would give to others is:
Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone in the gig economy and ask them to be your mentor! Ask lots of questions.
